The Imagine Classical Academies
My name is Tina Leone and I am principal and school developer of two new charter schools in Falcon D49. The first school, The Imagine Classical Academy at Indigo Ranch, is set to open in the Fall of 2008. The second school, The Imagine Classical Academy at Forest Meadows, will open in the Fall of 2009. I would like to use this blog to help people understand more about charter schools, what they are, and who participates in charter schools. I would also like to use this blog to chronicle the task of creating, opening, and operating charter schools that serve the needs of families.

In education, when success is replicated, it is a validation of something that is working, something that is effective. The next two years I will be creating and replicating the success of other Core Knowledge classical charter schools in the state of Colorado by developing and operating two new Core Knowledge classical charter schools in Falcon School District 49. Three models that we will try to emulate as much as possible are Liberty Common Charter School, The Classical Academy and Ridgeview Classical Academy. In this blog I will be recording the journey to the creation and operation of The Imagine Classical Academy at Indigo Ranch, set to open in fall 2008 and The Imagine Classical Academy at Forest Meadows, set to open in fall 2009. This is the first time I have ever tried to "blog." I'm hoping to use this opportunity to introduce the community to the ins and outs of charter schools. After being in charter schools for the last 13 years, I still run into people who don't know what charter schools are. I get questions like, "How much is the tuition?" and "Are you a public school?" I hope to answer some of those questions and help people see what a great choice charter schools can be for their children. By the way, charters are public schools of choice, so we receive the state per pupil funding and we are public schools so we do not charge tuition.
I hope this blog is helpful and informational to the general public. With that, I officially welcome you to the world of charter schools!

I would also like to know what grades Imagine will serve in 08. Are you taking applications now?

Hi, Tina. What grades will Imagine serve in '08. I'm an educator (of 13 years, mainly in classical ed.), now serving with curriculum company in the Springs, and I see great value in Core Knowledge, but I'm also wondering how that extends to the high school.
