The Cimarron Bridge opened to traffic May 22, with no weight restrictions and three lanes, which will be configured to maximize traffic flow and minimize inconvenience during remaining construction activities. Work will continue on additional traffic lanes, bike lanes and sidewalks through August 2008.
Please be aware in the coming weeks that due to the ongoing construction activities, there will be occasional lane closures. Please take notice of resources including traffic alerts, VMS signs, or the project hotline for more details on upcoming impacts.
In the next few weeks while traffic signals are being installed, please pay close attention to traffic signs as well as posted speed limits throughout the project. As construction activities become more frequent, traffic signs and posted speeds are vital to the safety of construction crews and the traveling public.
All construction activities are weather and resource dependent.

This project is funded by the Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority (PPRTA). The PPRTA was formed when voters in Colorado Springs, Manitou Springs, Green Mountain Falls and El Paso County approved a one percent sales tax in November of 2004 to address infrastructure and transit needs in the region. The tax revenue is divided into three categories: 55% capital improvements, 35% maintenance, and 10% transit. The capital portion of the tax will sunset in 10 years.
