City of Woodland Park

In 1891, after becoming established as a resort town and business center for the surrounding area, Woodland Park was incorporated. Woodland Park's primary business was saw milling. Logs were cut and sold for railroad ties and braces used for the gold mines of Cripple Creek and Victor.

Today with over 7,600 residents, Woodland Park is a flourishing community of people who demand a high quality of life. Tourism continues to fuel the economy, often turning first-time visitors into lifelong residents.

Methinks the "quality" of Woodland Park in 1891 was probably a whole lot better than the quality of it now. Anybody every read the poem "The Dirt Road"? If not, you should. It's a eye-opener about what's really important in life. HINT: Quality people don't need phony dinosaur exhibits, palatial real estate buildings, and huge Wal-Marts that light up an otherwise quiet and peaceful rural night sky. Quality people just need to live among other intelligent, rational, law-abiding people just like themselves.
