Local Athlete Takes Bronze at US Nationals

The Annual Summer National Championships were held in San Jose California, July 1 -10th. Events were held in a number of age groups as well as individual and team competitions for men and women. (see full list below) Regional qualifying tournaments are held with a small percentage qualifying to the National Championships. Simply qualifying is an honorable feat.

Several local residents qualified, among them Doug High, Hillary High, James Salem and Olivia Prosseda. All practice at Front Range Fencing Club.

James Salem won the bronze medal in the Y14 event (135 entries), held July 1. The event format consisted of one round of pools followed by a table of direct elimination. Salem also finished 71 in the U16 event. Hillary High finished 88 in the Women's U16 and Olivia Prosseda finished 71 in the U19 event. Other results are unavailable at this time as the events are not complete.
