MINI-CINE shows its MEGA POWERS
The exciting new movie genre called "MiniCine"-(think: Youtube) the movie shorts, documentaries, animations and features we view on computer screens, started out just a few years ago and is now one of the hottest new media on the planet. More than art, news or storytelling, the Minicine is in a class of its own.
While many aspects of the mini-cine revolution is based on home movies and fairly rough clips, more and more entertainment and professional as well as do-it-yourselfers claim their moments of fame online with this cutting edge medium.
From home movie bloopers to professional media to news documentaries, these super short movies are reaching millions of viewers at any given moment via the internet on the world wide web.
The genre is known as "user generated videos", yet on any given day, we can view professional clips by journalists documenting and reporting news, human interest stories, and so on.
A key factor in the success of the movies is the storytelling. A master story teller can be of any background - any age of person. While the story teller's interest in the telling is crucial to receiving interest, several key factors influence the success of movie results.
A sound understanding of the camera and point of view combined with the story is not quite enough. As any actor or movie industry worker can tell you, waiting around for each component of the movie takes quite a lot of time unless the crew is able to work together seamlessly and cohesively on and off camera.
Just how does one get that kind of experience without being born into a movie dynasty family?! Experience, practice and more experience are the traditions, but that can be hard to come by without a mentor's guidance with the experience and practice necessary to guide.
Would-be movie makers can work on a trial and error basis with a home movie camera and enjoy the results, or visit Universal Studios for a fantasy ride of movie making. But kids can also take professional classes locally. At Monument School of Fine Arts they get in on the ground floor of the hottest new movie making genre on the planet. Using state-of-the-art classes and equipment for hands-on movie creation, they can learn each facet of real movie making - because they are the crew!
Taught by experienced professionals and created by the top pros in the movie industry film schools, the MSFA Summer Movie Camp offers the skills and practice needed to create and produce movies with an indie flair.
Valuable skills translate into valuable experiences at Summer Movie Camp for one very filled week of real movie crew practice with a dvd of the productions (and bloopers!), interviews of the crew, and more.
