Some readers of The Slice have expressed concerns about its publishing for the last time on Oct. 18.
We're going to miss The Slice as well, but we're planning to replace it with a better print publication.
The new weekly tabloid will be called Your Hub at ColoradoSprings.com same as our new citizen journalism Web site.
It will differ from The Slice in two ways: The new paper will appear in your home subscription of The Gazette each Thursday, rather than Wednesday; and it will contain stories, photos and other information written and submitted by residents or your neighbors in your part of town - that includes you.
The new Web site launched a week ago and already has received dozens of stories, blogs, photos and event listings from citizen journalists.
When the new paper starts, our staff will select the best citizen submissions from the Web site and print them in the Your Hub newspaper.
We're convinced that citizens sharing their stories, expressing their concerns and ideas on this interactive "town square" will help create community. And we think the new paper will become an invaluable information source.
That's our goal, and we're determined to reach it.
