Jill Watkins of LADIES SING THE BLUES
Contributed by: amy whitesell on 5/27/2008

Jill Watkins hosted Ladies Sing The Blues (to rave reviews) this past October and then again in March. If you saw the shows, you are, no doubt, a fan of this very talented performer. If you didn't get to see the shows, reviews are posted at http://www.amusiccompanyinc.com

Please join us this Thursday, May 29 th as Jill performs with George Whitesell & His All Stars as they celebrate their 2 nd anniversary.

George Whitesell & His All Stars featuring Jill Watkins is keeping alive the tradition of the classic Jump, Swing, Jazz, R&B and Blues bands of the golden era from the late 40's through mid 60's when "show bands" with a female singer were the rage.

Players in the band are: George Whitesell-guitar, vocals and alto sax; Jill Watkins-vocals and trumpet; Brad Eastin-horn arranger, tenor sax; Chris Wojtecki-bari sax; Kenny Johnston-tenor sax; Santi Guarnera-bass; Dave Deason-drums; Tim Zahn-piano.

The band played recently at the Estes Park Jazz Festival closing Saturday's show. It was a beautiful day with a packed amphitheater. Following the United States Air Force's Falconaires, the band was a little worried about how the crowd would react to such different music.

"Looking around and watching the audience, I noticed they were not only

attentive, but thoroughly entertained and showed their appreciation by giving the band a standing ovation! George Whitesell His All Stars featuring Jill Watkins were so well received by the audience that the Estes Park Arts Council has asked them back to perform at the 2009 Estes Park Summer Concert Series", said Amy Whitesell of A Music Company Inc.

A slide show of their performance at Estes Park and more information on the band can be found at http://www.myspace.com/georgewhitesell

The show is early and family friendly, 6-9pm, at the Thirsty Parrot, which is located at 32 S Tejon St, Colorado Springs. Tickets are $6 in advance and $10 day of show. There is also a $16 ticket, which includes the show plus an All You Can Eat Mexican Buffet. You can purchase tickets online at http://www.amusiccompanyinc.com or at the Thirsty Parrot.
