Hello, I'm Lateefah Young.During summer I found out that I was nominated by my mentor Elaine Bowers, for the topMayor's 100 Teens! I was kind of excited at first, then everyone found out, and were congratulating me. Thats when I got really excited. But I wasn't quite sure what I was nominated for!
Everyone I've asked that was nominated couldn't really figure it out either! During processing, I met some cool, and phenomenal people! For the Kick-Off Celebration, you could sign up for an activity, skit, or dance. I don't really like performing that much, so I didn't sign up for anything.
It was the day of the Kick-Off Celebration, and Its been months since I've seen people! When I got to Armstrong Hall at Colorado College, the adult volunteers put me right to work! I was in a group, that was really fun! It had the people I met a few months ago, in there!
I got nominated for over- coming birth, because I was 3 months premature, and had many complications as a baby. The day was long, and my group was very entertaining and fun!
After all the reheasals, it was time for all the teens to shine!!!
From what I've heard, all the performances were great! My group was the last one to go out, so we were backstage most of the time. Overall, Being a Mayor's 100 teen was a great experience, meeting great people, and putting a positive spin on my community!
