With spring approaching, many of us anticipate the puffy eyes, itching throat and sneezing associated with seasonal allergies. But there is hope! Taking local, raw honey can help reduce allergies to pollens and allow you to enjoy the spring weather without a box of tissues in hand.
Experts recommend starting one month before seasonal allergies usually begin and take one to three tablespoons of the local, raw honey per day. I like to think of it as the "hair of the dog that bit you." The raw honey is not heated and contains a bit of the pollen from your local area that is probably the reason for your misery. This small amount allows your body to learn to deal with the allergen and prevent the overreaction that manifests itself in puffy eyes and all those other unpleasant symptoms. It is one health remedy that actually tastes good! You can eat it on your toast, in tea, or however you like.
Of course, it is also recommended that you eat healthy foods from nature and avoid processed foods, take your omega 3 oils and vitamin C to further boost your body's natural immune system and help prevent it from overreacting to airborne pollen.
Enjoy the sweetness of honey and perhaps you will also enjoy the spring a bit more this year!
