Blog Entry 9 of 14 Sample this and that
Welcome to Sample's blog. I am a mom of three young girls and live in a great neighborhood and community. A very small town with a huge heart. I struggle with a theme for my blog, so I will just tell you that it is about everyday life as a mom, wife, friend, community journalist and sports enthusiast. I truly believe everyone is interesting and has a story to tell. I hope to share some interesting, funny, insightful and informative blogs that you can relate to as a parent, friend, neighbor, YMCA sports fan, working mom, dad, at home or outside the home, everyday joe about everyday life.

Rai Henniger interview questions
Contributed by: Michele Sample   on 7/10/2007

Over the Fourth of July, I couldn't help but think about Rai Henniger, Sky Sox senior vice president of marketing and promotions.

Henniger was seriously injured in a fireworks explosion before a Sky Sox game in May. He sustained major facial and head injuries and will require restorative surgeries. He has lost his left eye.

As I researched his journey from that day until now, I was moved by quotes from his wife, Heather. She spoke at a news conference with Army Sgts. Christopher Smith and Michael Cordosi, who ran to her husband's aid after the explosion. The two men used towels to stop the bleeding, and kept Henniger talking until an ambulance arrived.

"We did what we could with the time we were given," Smith said.
Heather hugged them both and said, "It's not just from me, but from all my children ... Thank you."

She said her husband is approaching his treatment and recovery with "unwavering courage and awesome spirit, like everthing in his life.

As a wife and mother of three children, I automaticaly think of the Henniger family and how this accident has changed their lives.

If I could ask Rai Henniger questions about this experience, I would ask him about staying strong for his family. How have his children reacted? What is it like to have your whole world change in a matter of seconds?

If you could ask Rai Henniger questions, what would you ask?
This is what YourHub would like to know. This is your chance to see how citizen journalism can make a difference.

Send us your questions for Rai Henniger, either e-mail, over the phone or post them on YourHub, and we will select the best questions for him to answer. We'll print the interview in YourHub and post it online.

If you have any questions about this process, call 636-0296 or e-mail me at michele.sample@coloradosprings.com
