As a journalist, I'm sworn to tell the truth. So here you go, the truth: I'd rather be fishing, or riding my bike, or hanging out with Elise, my wife, and our daughter, Laurel. I'd like to sit and paint or draw, dig in the garden or drink coffee and play my guitar. But a guy has to make a living, and I am excited and proud to be leading the YourHub at ColoradoSprings.com staff. I've worked off and on at The Gazette since 1982, mostly in sports and recently as editor of The Slice. Another bit of truth: I love Colorado Springs, the people here, Pikes Peak and the way sunlight strikes Garden of the Gods. It isn't perfect, but it's ours. It's home. And that's what YourHub at ColoradoSprings.com is about. It's for you to use, a tool to help you share your thoughts, concerns and opinions, a way for you to identify our changing, beautiful and complex city. This staff and I are here to help you use YourHub, to help you make your home feel a little more like home.

I am a Midwestern girl, born and raised in Iowa. I begged and pleaded with my father to go to college in California, but it wasn’t in the budget, so I stayed in Ames and was a Cyclone for two years at Iowa State University. Being the determined person that I am, I was resourceful and went to California just to work for the summer, and ended up staying, gaining residency and graduating from California State University, Fullerton, with a Communications degree. I worked in media, journalism and sales for about ten years, met my husband Robert, and started our family. (Not necessarily in that order.) Robert’s job actually moved us to the Tri-Lakes area six years ago, and we have loved it ever since. I do miss the ocean, but love the community and friends we have made. We have three awesome girls, Elle, Kellsey and Ashlee, who feel the same way and have told us they never want to move. I hope you will utilize YourHub and start writing about your life, your kids, your hobbies, your interests, your neighbors (be nice). You can post photos, events, activities, and even start a blog. Please pick up the phone and call me with any questions! Happy writing!

When I'm not working, I'm watching my son Colin compete in football, basketball, baseball and golf. Every new season brings an exciting, fresh start and a new experience. After seven years of covering sports at The Gazette, I moved over to The Slice in January of 2006. I've always loved playing, watching and writing about sports, but The Slice gave me a chance to immerse myself in our city's neighborhoods, meet interesting people and tell their stories. With Slice transitioning to YourHub, neighborhood news becomes an interactive experience for you. You've read it before, but now you write it, you share it, and we publish it. This isn't an exclusive club. If you want to share it, we want to hear it. Send us stories about your family, your friends, your hobby, or your club.

A farmer's daughter in smalltown, Kansas, I graduated from Kansas State University in the Little Apple with a print journalism and mass communications major and an English minor. I drove cross-country to New York state for a summer newspaper job before flying off to spend an amazing 15 months in Seoul, teaching English to Koreans. Not wanting to live with my parents on my return to the States, I moved in with one of my brothers, a bachelor, in Colorado Springs, and am so glad I did. Substitute teaching, working as a temp at a temp agency and a part-time copy-editing job at The Gazette led to a reporting job for The Slice, which led to YourHub, which I am so excited about! I like reading, listening, running and hiking. I also have the travel bug and enjoy visiting friends abroad. I'm curious about people and love to watch them and hear their stories. Can't wait to hear from you!

I hail from an Indiana cow town so small, seeing a movie in a theater meant a 45-minute drive. Four years ago I made a beeline to Colorado on I-70 and immersed myself in the city's cultural stew working as a stringer for various local publications, a substitute teacher with District 11, a Sports Agate Clerk with The Gazette, and a Community Relations Specialist with Pikes Peak Library District. I'm stoked to be a part of YourHub and a philosophy that lets citizens decide what topics rate. If it matters to you, it's community news. Whether it's a great new bistro up the street or a local mechanic that gave you a raw deal, we're here to give voice to your opinions and concerns
