The Lady Glads Varsity soccer team is starting their season off with high hopes for their new year. Along with plenty of new players, the team is also receiving a new coach. Mr. Dale Kahre will be starting this year as the Varsity Girls Soccer Coach. When asked what prompted him to coach the team, Kahre said, "I've played soccer most of my life, it was my first passion."
According to Kahre, the season record from last year was 6-9. He wants to see improvement and said that he expects to see good things this season. Kahre is really looking forward to seeing his team become a team, not just a few key players. He believes these girls have a lot of talent, and when they work together, they'll become a great team. According to Kahre few players from last year are returning. There are a couple of juniors, but sophomores and freshmen will be making up most of the team. Kahre does expect to see some struggles in the beginning of the season because of how young the team is. However, he hopes to prepare these young players because he says, "they have great potential and talent in this sport." Kahre predicts that since the team is so young, in years to come, they'll be an amazing team.
Kahre has also set a few goals for the season. He hopes that the team can win the Mesa Ridge game, that the soccer program overall will win at least half of their games, and can compete for a position in the playoffs. Playoffs seem to be a personal goal as well as a team goal. Kendall Sickmiller, Junior and Defensive Middle, said that, "It would be nice to see us make the playoffs." Brittany Fiedler, Junior and Keeper, commented on her personal and team goals by saying, "Everyone can improve, no matter what you do."
Kahre made early predictions to the outcome of the season as well. He thinks that his team will have good improvements and that they will make a good position in the playoffs. So as the Lady Glads start scoring goals on the field, they also have their own goals that they're all aspiring to make. Playoffs are definitely in mind, and the new team hopes to score their way to them.
