You can join your neighbors and sign the online petition against the
"DENVERIZATION" of downtown Colorado Springs with massive skyscrapers.
Because I, and many other everyday citizens I have spoken with, care so much for the quality of life, unique character, history, and
NATURAL skyline of Colorado Springs and believe that these
MUST be preserved through careful, intelligent planning and design, I have been speaking out against the ongoing plans that attempt to
CHANGE current Colorado Springs City Ordinance to allow for large skyscrapers to be built downtown.
In concert with speaking out,we have organized a grass roots petition drive to help convince the members of City Council that changing current city ordinance to allow these "cement & glass monuments to man's hubris" to darken and congest downtown while "blot(ting) out the majestic soaring peaks to the west" is not supported by the regular citizens of Colorado Springs.
It is important to note that this petition
DOES NOT oppose downtown revitalization or even new buildings in downtown...it just opposes "out of scale" development and changing the current Downtown Action Plan building height restrictions that are already in city ordinance.
I hope you will join us and please take a moment to sign the online petition to
Oppose the "Denverization" of Colorado Springs with huge skyscrapers
at the following link.

Also,
PLEASE PASS THIS ALONG to anyone you think might be interested and write the Colorado Springs City Council at
AllCouncil@Springsgov.com to let it know that we need to protect our unique natural skyline from being blotted out by skyscrapers.
Time is running out to voice your opposition. If you are not familiar with the skyscrapers in downtown issue you can read about it in the Dec. 8 edition of YourHub Sound Off, or please feel free to contact

--------------START PETITION BODY-----------------
To:
City Council Of Colorado Springs
We, the undersigned citizens of Colorado Springs, strongly
OPPOSE changing the current Downtown Action Plan to allow High-rise Skyscraper type buildings over the 14 stories currently allowed to be built in the Downtown core area. We
OPPOSE the current plans in development for the
24 Story Cooper Tower at the corner of East Kiowa Street and North Nevada Ave. We further OPPOSE the current plans for the
20 story Pikes Peak Place skyscraper at the corner of East Pikes Peak Ave. and North Nevada Ave.
We believe that the unique character, history, and
NATURAL skyline of Colorado Springs
MUST be preserved through intelligent planning and design that considers proper scope and scale along with the composition of surrounding neighborhoods. We further believe that the needs of downtown business growth can be accommodated without "Denverizing" the downtown area.
Sincerely,
The Undersigned Citizens of Colorado Springs
