Bridging History
Contributed by: Charles Kelly on 4/24/2008

This trestle has a lot of history. It is located between Murry Blvd. and 300 yards east of Academy Blvd. This is the original bridge for the Rock Island Railroad and has fallen into disrepair. The track to the east of Murry was sold off about four months ago but the tracks to the west are still in tack. A repairman's cab car shown in the attached picture has been seen cruising around town on the old track.

What a neat little cab car! I've never seen one before. I love coming across old tracks that are still intact--it makes me think I've made a rare archaelogical discovery! Thanks for sharing.
