IHOP
When we found out that IHOP had "Dr. Seuss" food on the menu, of course we had to go. We had not been to IHOP in a very long time. In the past, it was a bit too pricey for a family with five children, but we wanted to try this fun food. We like the IHOP near Chapel Hills Mall, so that is where we went.
When we got there, the kids ordered the Jo-jo's Breakfast (for dinner) and the Beezlenut Splash to drink. I was surprised to find that even though I am on a diet, that I could eat dinner there! I was going to have just a salad, but the Grilled Tilapia without the Hollandaise sauce (because of my diet) is wonderful! They also have different types of chicken for anyone who wants to eat healthy food.
When the food came out, it was beautiful! The Who-Cakes were so colorful and the kids loved the green eggs and ham. The older kids were not happy when they found out (after they ate and loved it) that the eggs were green because spinach was added to them. We should have kept that a secret. The Beezlenut Splash is pretty and the kids loved slurping up the Jell-O squares through the straws! It's Sprite with ice and red and blue Jell-O squares in it!
My food took longer to come out, but it was so good that I didn't mind.
The menu is great. There are many choices and if I was not dieting I would have been in heaven with all the sweet pancakes! My husband had a nice, big breakfast-type of meal that he enjoyed. The staff is beyond friendly, and all do a great job. But the best part was when we went to pay our huge bill. We didn't know that kids eat free after 3 p.m., every day! They also have a military discount. So we have been back three more times. One kid eats free per adult meal purchased. We put two of our kids on Grandma and Grandpa's ticket one time, and on my brother's another time.
I am told that the Dr Seuss' "Horton Hears a Who!" food will be around for a couple more weeks, so hurry on in there and have a blast!
Carl's Jr.
One more "kids eat" deal for you. Carl's Jr. on Stetson Hills Boulevard has 99-cent kids' meals on the weekends now. Big yummy burgers or chicken stars, fries and a drink! I don't know how long it will last, but that is a great deal. And I can eat a healthy grilled chicken sandwich there on a whole wheat bun (I miss the burgers and fries, though) and have a salad and tea. They also have a wonderful staff! They are fast, the place is nice and clean, they are friendly, and the food is
so good!
