Dan In Real Life is the real deal
Contributed by: Sheryle Miller on 10/28/2007

Steve Carell did an outstanding job in his role as Dan Burns, the father of three girls. This is a classic love story that unfolds as he travels to Rhode Island to spend the holidays with his almost too perfect family. Dan lost his wife four years ago and is doing his best at raising two teenage girls and one pre-teen.

He hasn't fallen in love since her death, and everyone is very excited when he comes home with a story about this mystery girl he met in a book store. This amazing girl, Marie (Juliette Binoche), happens to be his little bro's, Mitch (Dane Cook), girlfriend. Obviously crushed by this, Dan doesn't hold back his feelings and some family member's begin to question him. In the mean time he's set up on a date with a girl from the neighbor hood, once known for her pig-shaped nose, that grew into a gorgeous woman. Even this does not minimize what he feels for Marie.

This movie will make you laugh out loud and fall in love with Dan as both a father and helpless romantic. Steve Carell did an excellent job and I would recommend this movie, no doubt. Being surrounded by couples in the theater, I left knowing that both the ladies and gentlemen were satisfied with this one.It is a chick-flick, but Carell's humor makes it very enjoyable for the guys.
