"We Own the Night" owned the big screen

Wow, what a movie! Everything about this movie captured my attention. The setting was New York in 1988. Bobby Green (Joaquin Phoenix) manages this popular nightclub, not only for those out looking for a good time, but also Russian gangsters that were out to make money off of drugs. Amada (Eva Mendes), Bobby's girlfriend, added to the suspense and drama by being around when a lot of "stuff" went down. Bobby Green's brother is Police Lieutenant Joseph Grusinsky (Mark Wahlberg) who was just promoted and was out to make a name for himself by tracking down one of the leaders of the Russian gang. After failing to get information from his brother on the happening inside of the club, Lieutenant Joseph went in for the kill. That began a domino effect of intense action scenes. I was on the edge of my seat half the movie! Deputy Chief Burt Grusinsky (Robert Duvall) was very proud of his son Joseph, and had faith in Bobby. The tides turn about halfway thought the movie and Bobby Green is willing to sacrifice his name in the club scene for his family. Numerous unexpected occurrences take place, all the way up until the last scene. Go see this movie!
