In this Part of "Beware The Associations," you will begin to read about
the "dark side" of living in homeowners associations
. The side that is an extremely invasive form of private government that no American in their right mind would ever freely choose to live in. Only those who appear to have some sort of a biological or psychological predilection toward socialism and fascism want to live in them. That is, those types of homeowners
like
being completely controlled by others. It allows them to, basically, maintain their fantasy of being wealthy while they turn a blind eye to the greed and corruption all around them, as well as the loss of their legal and Constitutional rights.
Homeowners associations: Local public officials in cities love them because they allow the cities to make more money without doing anything for the HOA community to get it.
Normal, independent-minded, freedom-loving Americans hate them because they take their Constitutional and other legal rights away from them.
Read on and stop feeling guilty that so many people in your homeowners association/common interest development seem to love them and you don't.
You are the normal folks in this HOA equation, not them.
You are the folks that, one day, will rise up and abolish homeowners associations and try to stand this country back on its proud and strong feet again.
Whether you (we) can do that, or not, remains to be seen. But this much is known about human nature: Intelligent and rational people will try.

Irvine, California -
They can dictate the color of your home. They can place a lien on your property and foreclose on it. They can tell you the type and height of your fence and when to repair your roof. Imagine an invasive private form of government that can do all of the above and can also tell you whether you can have a basketball hoop over your garage, or even how long you can keep your garage door open.
"They" exist. "They" are called homeowners' associations. They are alive and their presence threatens homeowners everywhere.
