First Friday ArtWalk Popularity Draws Art Goers to Old Colorado City
Colorado Springs, CO - Old Colorado City, with the largest number of individually-operated galleries in Colorado Springs, drew the biggest crowd in April for ArtWalk since the event started in 2005. Not only do the dozen or so galleries keep their doors open later in the evening, but art goers enjoy the party-like atmosphere celebrating new art and featured artists. Patrons gather around the live demonstrations and are enthused to chat with the artists about their showcased collections and trends for 2008. Whether new to the art scene or not, everyone seems to appreciate the region's vast pool of creative talent.

The ArtWalk committee reported the greatest turnout with hundreds and hundreds of excited visitors in April and believes ArtWalk's popularity will continue to increase. The consumption of food, wine and art prove that collectors' appetites are far from waning and more locals are noticeably choosing to purchase artwork here rather than trekking out of state for comparable and, often more expensive, options.

Patrons say it is easy to park and browse the diverse galleries in close proximity between 23rd and 27th Streets on Colorado Avenue for a full evening of fun. They look forward to browsing a broad range of quality artwork from abstract to more traditional by some of today's most promising and accomplished artists. Scheduling time to do something out of the norm may take some thought, but First Friday ArtWalk offers the most dynamic and free introduction to the Springs' growing visual arts world.

Visit Old Colorado City and First Friday ArtWalk hosts at All that Glitters, Arati Artists Gallery, Artists Lair, Calabash, Chrystina's Gallery, Cucuru Gallery Café, Hunter-Wolff Gallery, Laura Reilly Studio, Pine Creek Art Gallery, The Squash Blossom, Wayne Lambert Gallery, and Handcrafted Santa's and More every month, in Old Colorado City.
