Historic Cy's Drive In at the corner 19th and Uintah Streets has been a staple in Colorado Springs since 1953.
Originally a Frosty Freeze, it was later named in honor of long-time owner Cy Long.
The car hop and little drive-in is adjacent to Rick's Garden Center and Floral. The little white Cy's building with red and yellow trim is full of nostalgia.
The inside dining area has pictures on the walls of Elvis Presley and James Dean. The jukebox plays classic rock and roll.
Cy's is famous for many things, including its shakes. Fifty years ago every diner had thick shakes. The shakes and malts are made with vanilla soft serve with a choice of chocolate, strawberry, cherry, blueberry, banana, butterscotch, pineapple, raspberry, peanut butter or marshmallow.

Cy's burgers are made from Ranch Food Direct beef and buffalo. It's all-natural, hormone and antibiotic-free. The Alaskan Burger has been the signature sandwich since the 1950's. Made with 2 beef patties, bun in the middle, Thousand Island dressing and lettuce, it's similar to, but pre-dates, the "Big Mac". Definitely worth trying! Additional shake flavors include blackberry, coffee, mocha and caramel. My favorite is raspberry/chocolate.

I've been known to fill three hours walking around Rick's Nursery (next door to Cy's) then going for a hamburger and malt. It might be an old-school place, but it's way cool.
