Rio Grande Scenic Railroad Bringing Cowboy Favorites and Recent Grammy Winners to Mountain Venue

Second Annual High Altitude Concert Series Debuts July 17

Alamosa, Colo. (June 24, 2008) - The Rio Grande Scenic Railroad, Colorado's newest scenic train, is bringing the popular High Altitude Concert Series back to its unique outdoor venue nestled among the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.

Throughout the series, legendary cowboy favorite and Western Music Hall of Fame inductee, Michael Martin Murphey, will play repeat performances and be joined by several other national musical acts through August 16.

"We had such tremendous support for last year's concerts, that we decided to make it an annual event," said John Thomas, VP of sales and marketing. "This year, we're bringing in some great national performers, placed them all in a gorgeous mountain setting and created a special train ride just for the concerts."

The first performance, July 17-18, features Murphey, along with country and bluegrass singer Ricky Skaggs and the family harmony group, The Whites. Ricky and The Whites recently won a 2008 Grammy Award for their CD titled, "Salt of the Earth".

Sitting in a natural meadow amphitheater of aspens and pines under starry skies, guests are treated to an intimate setting perfect for a memorable event. The only way to get to the venue is by riding the Rio Grande Scenic Railroad's Highnote Express train out of Alamosa or La Veta. Roundtrip ticket prices for the July 17 and 18 performances are $95 per person.
