The City of Colorado Springs and the Colorado Springs Philharmonic Orchestra continue their tradition of presenting a patriotic concert, free and open to the public, including a spectacular fireworks display in Memorial Park on July 4 with music beginning at 5 p.m.
Bring a picnic, claim a grassy spot and enjoy Big band, Broadway, Western and patriotic favorites performed by the Colorado Springs Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Associate Conductor Thomas Wilson. The program will feature vocals from the very talented and well-known Amy Sue Hardy, Chris Lawson on trumpet and Bron Wright on trombone. The Orchestra will also be performing Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture complete with booming cannons from a parade battery of 6 Howitzers provided by the 4th Artillery Division, Fort Carson, Colorado. As always, the evening will conclude with a spectacular fireworks display. Entertainment will begin at 5 p.m. with live rock 'n roll from the '50s through the '90s with "The Beats." The Colorado Springs Philharmonic Orchestra takes the stage at 8pm. No alcohol, firearms,BBQ grills or pets allowed
