Come to the umpteenth Colorado City Cemetery Crawl!
Adults $6 for Advance Tickets (at the History Center 1 S. 24th St., Colorado Springs, across from Bancroft Park) or $8 at the Cemetery gate.
One hour conducted tour past graves with a costumed figure representing who is buried there - from Laura Belle's - the Queen of the Colorado City Red Light District, to Anthony Bott's large tombstone - one of the pioneer founders of Colorado City - who also rode in the 3rd ColoradoCavalry against the Indians at Sand Creek in 1864 - and was proud of it! Duncan Lamont, the firey Scotch preacher who railed against the 21 Saloons of Colorado City, Dr. Issaac Winternetz - who was shot by Adolph Busch (yes, the beer baron) for what he wrote on the death certificate of his daughter but survived to spawn a large doctor family in Colorado Springs.
Characters and personalities you WON'T find in snooty Evergreen Cemetery across town.
Anytime between 10 a.m.to the start of the last tour at 2 p.m..
Just go west on either Colorado Avenue, or the Midland Expressway U.S. 24 to 26th Street. Hang a left south on 26th Street for a half-mile. Cemetery is on your right.
Where:
Fairview Cemetery on Westside - 26th Street South of US24/Expressway/Colorado Avenue
When:
10AM to Last Tour Starting at 2PM
Event Dates:
This event takes place on 8/12/2007.
