Hula Hoop Class

Want to have a blast while losing inches off your waistline? What better way to have a fun workout with a smile on your face! Feeling a jiggle around the middle? Discover the secret that's sweeping the nation! Hula Hooping! Everyone can learn this! Using oversized hula-hoops and arm hoops provided by Hulachix, you'll receive a whole body workout. Tone up those abs, flabby arms and groove to your own beat.

No childcare will be provided.

Instructor: Shelley Duardi, Hula-Hooper Extraordinaire

Dates and Times: Tuesdays, March 4, 11, 18, April 1, 8, 15; from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m.

Place: Manitou Springs Elementary School Gym

Registration: $75.00 includes one oversized hula-hoop provided by Hulachix for you to keep

Line Dancing - For Beginners

Line Dancing is a formation dance in which a group of people dance in line, and they all execute the same movements. Line dancing has been dominated by Country Western music, but today, the line dance form and music has spread to include Swing, Pop, Cha-Cha, Waltz, etc. Line Dancing is a great form of exercise, a good social activity, and you do not need a partner. All ages and genders are welcome...

Here is a list of the dances we'll go over Macarena, Achy Breaky, Cowgirls Twist, Little Rhumba, Black Velvet (a.k.a. Ski Bumpus), and Tush Push.

We will review the Electric Slide, Copperhead Road, Cat Fish, Oh Venus, Cotton Eyed Joe, Ritz's Waltz, and Cha Cha Slide,

Table Tennis/Ping Pong

An Olympic Sport

Learn to play one of the world's fastest Olympic sports. Scott Preiss, US National Table Tennis Coach and Trainer, will teach you all the strokes of the sport. Training will be conducted on four table tennis tables at Manitou Springs Middle School. Students will learn all of the official Olympic Rules of Table Tennis, proper etiquette, and the strokes necessary to become a good player. For ages 7 to 85!

Dates/Times: Start date to be determined 6:00 - 7:30 pm

Place: Manitou Springs Middle School Gym

Tuition: $40.00, $35.00 for second family member

Yoga

Discover how to gain vitality and enhance your life force with yoga. Various yoga postures from beginning to intermediate will be introduced and practiced during each class. Tips on stress management will also be provided. Learn to flow more effortlessly through your life with a style of yoga that focuses on inner peace. The benefits of managing stress, increasing flexibility, vitality, energy and learning how to improve your overall health makes this class a must.

Becoming a Love and Logic Parent

This class is for parents of children ages 1-12. This class applies the Love & Logic philosophy and its' unique approach to issues from toddler to pre-adolescent. You will receive suggestions and techniques that will help you raise responsible, fun children.

Instructor: Alice Barnett, Certified Love and Logic facilitator for 4 years

Dates/Times: Wednesday, 6 weeks, February 27, March 5, 12, 19, April 2, 9; 6:00 - 8:00 PM

Place: Manitou Springs Shared Integrated Learning Center, 1 st floor conference room

Tuition: $80/person or $120/couple, (includes workbook)


Everyday Visionary Workshop

Once you take the time to decide what your priorities are-based on your vision-your life will begin moving in that direction. This workshop provides an easy, step-by-step process to find your passion and create your desired future. When you complete the workshop you will be on track toward a happier, more fulfilling and successful life. You are an Everyday Visionary-realize it now!

Instructor: David Chorpenning, Ph.D., is a coach and consultant to individuals and organizations on the visioning process. He has been consulting to organizations in the areas of team building and vision for twenty years. His book was recently published, Everyday Visionary: A practical guide to the life you desire along with the Everyday Visionary Workbook.

Digital Photography

This is a basic digital Photography course on how to develop your pictures with PhotoShop Elements 4. Bring your camera, fully charged batteries and download cord. Please provide your email address on the registration form for the instructor.

How to use PowerPoint for Your Classroom

How to use PowerPoint for your class- creating signs, flowcharts, sequence of events, diagrams, slideshows. Using tips, tricks, and shortcuts to make your job easier and more productive. Bring your questions.

How to use Excel for Your Classroom

As a result of this class, the participant will create flashcards, charting, M & M project, apply formulas and functions, and learn quick tip, tricks, and shortcuts to make your projects easier. If you have questions about this class, please contact Toni Barton at 685-2122.

How to Collaborate More Effectively Using Google Applications

Google has free programs to create documents, spreadsheets and presentations online so they can be viewed and edited by multiple people. This software is basic, but powerful in the collaboration piece. Many school employees are utilizing this, come find out why and how. All students also have access to this incredible feature through a partnership program. Ideas of how to use this with students will be discussed.

Fluency Fast Spanish Classes

Pilates

Motion Studies is offering several different classes in Pilates. Pilates on the Ball on Mondays, Intro/Beginning Pilates Mat class on Tuesdays, Beginning/Intermediate Pilates Mat Class on Wednesdays, Pilates Mat and Ball on Thursdays, and Intermediate/Advanced Pilates Mat Class on Saturdays.

Classes held at Motion Studies, 4460 N. Chestnut Street, Colorado Springs, CO

Prices: $12 for drop in or $100 for 10 classes.

Manitou Springs Public Library

Manitou Springs Public Library continues to hold Story Times on Thursdays, 10:30 a.m. at the library. Geared to preschoolers, Miss Grace will read stories and engage children in fingerplays, songs, and occasional crafts. Ages 0-5 welcome... so come join the fun. This is a great social network for Moms.

Cool Science continues at the library with Cool Science Guy Marc Straub every other Monday after school from 3:30 - 4:30. Check with the library or your local paper for exact dates.

Family Fun Nights and all Adult Programs at Manitou Springs Public Library have been temporarily canceled until further notice. Check with the library's website http://manitousprings.colibraries.org/ or check with staff at 685-5206 for updates on these activities.
