Every summer they have a classic & hot rod car show in this tiny town of Green Mountain Falls. I usually stay away from these male-oriented events, but ya know, it's a beautiful, hot day, and its only afive-minute walk to the gazebo park.
As usual, I'm not feeling well (I have CFIDS), but I took some ibuprofen, drank lots of water and slathered on the sunscreen. Then out the door with my camera and umbrella!
I kinda let my mind just meander, observing my judgments and stuff; as I'm a dedicated earth-lover; cars are anathema to me, especially gas guzzlers of old. I have a firm belief that we drive cars that are too big and not even slightly fuel efficient. And the oldsters fall into this category (although today's SUVs are even worse)
However, I smiled as I felt a nice warm feeling creep over me, and I realized that all cars would be an extinct species one day soon, cars as we know them anyway. So I decided to enjoy this beautiful Saturday , and give in to my secret love of mint condition, original classic cars. And what cherries were out today!
My favorites were the dark green 1941 Cadillac and the Red and White 1955 Chevy Bel Air. I'd have to say I had a guilty pleasure in finding an electric car as well, built by some ambitious and talented teenagers at Manitou Springs High School.
I still felt kind of like a fish out of water at this event, but it was neat to be able to see so many beautiful pieces of soon-to-be extinct machinery.
