Drivers should expect detours and delays, and use alternate routes when possible.
Construction crews on the Austin Bluffs Interchange at Union Boulevard project will take the Labor Day weekend off to help minimize inconvenience to holiday travelers.
Lane closures and night work are necessary on Austin Bluffs Parkway Friday, Aug. 22 through Sunday, Aug. 24, and then again Sept. 5 - 7 to accommodate asphalt removal and replacement. This work will last the duration of the weekend beginning Friday night and will continue until crews are finished on Sunday.
Additionally, during the day on Saturday, Aug. 23, alternating right and left lane closures will be necessary on Union Boulevard to accommodate roadway striping.
Various lane closures will be necessary Sept. 2 - 3 on both Austin Bluffs Parkway and Union Boulevard while crews remove existing asphalt. This work will be completed at night to minimize inconvenience to the traveling public.
Union Boulevard will be closed at the intersection overnight for two nights beginning Sept. 3 to accommodate overhead bridgework.
Lawrence Construction and the City of Colorado Springs ask motorists continue to be aware of the impacts and pay close attention to the signage, project advisories and/or the project hotline for more details as these construction activities continue.
