Art Demonstrations Light Up Trading Post Gallery
Contributed by: Linda Muth on 7/3/2008

What:
American Impressionist and local artistic legend Laura Reilly, and contemporary southwest painter, Tracy Miller, will present free painting demonstrations at The Garden of The Gods Trading Post Gallery on Sunday, July 20, from noon to 3 p.m.

Treat yourself to an authentic Colorado experience-meet two local fine artists, and visit a historic regional landmark, The Garden of The Gods Trading Post Gallery.

This dynamite creative duo will provide a fun and magical visual experience for anyone who has ever wondered, "How does the artist do that?" Both Reilly and Miller have taught art professionally, and they enjoy meeting art admirers and collectors of all levels.

Laura Reilly, one of our region's top selling artists, will transform a blank canvas into a glowing collectible painting, and discuss the varied inspirations for her impressionist oil paintings. Laura's unabashed love of painting, expert loose brushstrokes, and vibrant glowing light are all trademarks of her mountain landscapes, poppies and golden aspens. See her work at http://www.LauraReilly.com.

You may also see Laura's current exhibition "Summer Gems" and her studio at The Laura Reilly Gallery, 2616 W. Colorado Ave. in Old Colorado City.

Tracy Miller, another top-selling local artistic treasure, will also demonstrate her unique southwest petroglyph paintings in the Trading Post gallery. Her work combines modeled sand and vibrant acrylics as homage to the ancient Native Americans who inhabited the desert southwest thousands of years ago.

Tracy's work is available at The Garden of the Gods Trading Post Gallery, where she has been represented her for nearly ten years.

The historic Garden Of The Gods Trading Post is nestled at the Southwest corner of the Garden of the Gods Park. Charles Strausenback built the early Pueblo style structure in the early 1920s. Since that time, it has expanded to become Colorado's largest Trading Post. Please visit their Web site: http://co-trading-post.com/

They feature Colorado fine artists, traditional and contemporary jewelry, Native American jewelry, Navajo rugs, sand paintings and Pueblo pottery in their vast Southwestern Art Gallery. Fun Colorado gifts and souvenirs are also available.

All this and a bag of chips! Enjoy a café-style lunch in the lovely cottonwood shaded gardens and gurgling fountains of the Balanced Rock Café, and stay for an unusual and personal artistic experience at the art demonstrations!

Don't miss it!
