How do you make a perfect fruitcake? The basic ingredients are a fruitcake, launchers, a park, creative participants and last but not least, a song! For the last four years, M.L. King Elementary Choir students from Widefield School District 3 have been lending their voices to the Manitou Springs Fruitcake Toss by singing John Rigglio's "The Everlasting Fruitcake" complete with fruitcake, mower, car and mulcher. What a perfect melding of an unusual song with a unique event! The students and their families also participate in the throwing events and cheer on the contestants. It's a delightful way for the elementary students to practice singing in front of a large, receptive audience under all kinds of conditions. Keep on tossing, Manitou!
