Camping World opens new SuperCenter in Fountain
Contributed by: Travis Duncan on 3/2/2007

"This place is a pretty good nut to crack," RV World Service Writer Tim Young told me. "This is a great place to work. Nobody in town can hold a candle to us," Young said.

He should know. Young said he has worked for every other RV sales company in the Pikes Peak region and his current employer provides the best service out of all of them. Camping World, America's largest retailer of RV and outdoor supplies, opened the doors of their new SuperCenter to the Fountain community on Thursday, March 1. The attached RV World facility will open on Monday, March 5. Located at 6830 Bandley Drive in the Fountainhead Business Park, these facilities have approximately 46,000 square feet of combined space under one roof.

This move to combine RV sales with camping supplies and accessories is occurring nationwide. Both Camping World and RV World are owned by Freedom Roads, the largest RV company in the country. Pat Hunt, General Manager for the Fountain Camping World said, "Freedom Roads has been combining Camping World stores with the many dealerships they own across the country. Now it's two companies in one facility. We're excited because it's a good market with lots of mountain recreation here in the summertime."

The move makes sense. RV customers can now get all of their camping supplies in the same store where their coaches get serviced. "Camping World is now our parts store; it's the biggest accessory parts store in the country and it's inside our store. Anybody would love to have this setup," said Russ Hunt, Pat's brother.

Russ Hunt is the service manager for the attached RV World. "Freedom Roads spared no expense here," he said. "We have all new toys and state of the art equipment to work with. An old boss of mine used to say, we're in a good position to do a lot of good in a lot of ways. What we do helps people get out with their families. They go hunting, ride ATVs, or just get out in the mountains. We keep that in mind as we're servicing the coaches."

Construction on the facility began in September and the location couldn't be better. Right across the street, 60 self-storage units sit flanked by RV coaches, the owners of which will immediately head over to the Camping World SuperCenter as they pull out of the self-storage lot - at least that's what Camping World staff is counting on.

The 10 million dollar facility includes three enclosed sales booths, an Internet sales room, a separate training area, eight pull-through bays for servicing coaches, along with 8,700 square feet of retail space. Freedom Roads even owns the land across the street, should the operation need to expand in the future.

The Hunt brothers have been working for Freedom Roads for over 10 years in Utah and are looking forward to bringing their combined skills to the Camping World SuperCenter. Young is excited, too. "They've looked into everything the business lacked. They've done the research and put everything together into one package."

And the business is still looking to hire more people to staff the massive complex. "We had a meeting the other day where they told us, if you know quality people, get them in here," Young said. "We want people with enthusiasm, perfection, and integrity."
