Blog Entry 1 of 32 The Caffiend
I love coffee. That pretty much is all anyone really needs to know about me. I am a caffeine fiend - or a caffiend, a word I concocted about two minutes ago. I have a hot cup of Seattle's Best 6th Avenue Bistro sitting in front of me right now. I don't know a lot about coffee, but I can grind it and make it and drink it like it's going out of style. I usually have a cup of coffee in my hand. I suppose my character and personality do surge deeper than the 10-cup level. I dig fine art. I love to paint and draw. I like to sit in my living room and play the guitar (and drink coffee) on Saturday mornings. Hanging out with my wife Elise and daughter Laurel...those times are the best. I love fly-fishing, stepping into a clear stream and setting the day-to-day grind adrift. And I can sit and stare out the window at the mountains for a really long time. Elise says I'm "watching out." I think it's my way of meditating. Or maybe it's caffeine overdose.

Goooooood Morning Fountain!
Contributed by: YourHub.com   on 11/29/2006

Way to go Web surfer, you have found the Fountain page on YourHub at ColoradoSprings.com.
So we're off to a great start. Welcome to your new online newspaper. I'm Tim Bergsten, YourHub editor.
On this Web site, you can write stories about things that are important to you - your family, school, friends, the love of your life and what you did last Saturday.
My point is, this site is for you to use. It will be what the people of Fountain make of it. We've found this format to be very helpful in many ways. But its greatest use is connecting neighbors, defining communities. Think of it as a virtual town square, a place where people gather to tell their stories, share a good word and get to know each other.
Do you know where to buy a good used car? Share that info. Did you see a great high school basketball game? Tell us about it. Do you have an opinion on Fountain government? How about the growth in your area? Jeez, they've built so many houses there I hardly recognize the place.
And how about Fort Carson? Will the arrival of thousands of soldiers change your life? Write about it.
In a few months, we'll print a YourHub weekly newspaper and distribute it in your Thursday home subscriptions of The Gazette. We'll print the best stories, blogs, photos and events from the Web site. Think of it this way: Your dream of becoming a sports writer or city columnist is alive. If you consistently write and post stories etc. on this site, your byline will eventually appear in print.
We started the YourHub project with nine hubs in the north and east parts of the region. We currently distribute three weekly newspapers there and residents in those neighborhoods are catching on quickly. Your new paper is coming next, but I can't give you an exact date.
If you've read this far I'm doing something right and I have one favor to ask. Click on the registration button in the top-left corner of this page and take a minute to sign up. You can read all you want without registering, but you have to register in order to submit stories, photos, blogs and events.
I'm asking because your words are important. Your words will add their own unique flavor to this site. They'll help define your city and make your home feel a little more like home. Have at it.
Travis Duncan will host this site. It's a good idea to get to know him. You can call him at 636-0190 or e-mail travis.duncan@coloradosprings.com.If you cruise around on the site, you'll find his photo and a message from him. He's the red-headed dude with the sideburns. And he's a smart and nice person.
So take it away Fountain. Show us what you can do.
