Here's a link to a Focus on the Family video that sticks it to all those global warming alarmists:

Below, I've provided responses to Stuart Shepard's five reasons global warming isn't real.
5. The polar ice caps have melted before.
So ... it's a normal thing? Putting aside Shepard's ridiculous comment about polar bears living in condos, he's just plain turned logic on its head here.
Scientists have speculated that 55 million years ago, a huge volcanic eruption belched so much greenhouse gas into the atmosphere, the Arctic Ocean would have reached 25 degrees Celsius. Lots of species died. The quote below from an article in newscientist.com is instructive. Follow the link to read more.
Whatever the ultimate cause of the Eocene meltdown, a link to greenhouse gases seems highly likely. "There are obvious lessons from this," says Storey. "The rate at which greenhouse gases are now being added to the atmosphere exceeds by far the rate of 55 million years ago," he warns.

4. In a nutshell: Global climate change has always occurred. The earth cools and warms in natural cycles. Who are we to think we're causing it?
Yes, there is a natural cycle and it shows we should actually be in a downward trend right now. Also, our climate is changing roughly 10 times faster than natural cycles in the past.
3. NBC Nightly News ran a report on global warming that didn't consider opposing viewpoints.
That's what I'm doing here, Shepard. Here's a question: What are the odds Focus on the Family will post an unbiased story that considers some of the salient counterarguments I've provided above? Two more tries.
2. If we can't predict the weather accurately next week, how can anyone claim to predict climate change 50 or 100 years into the future?
Climate and weather are two different things. Climate is weather averaged over a period of time. An analogy: You can't predict whether it's going to rain on a Wednesday two weeks from now, but we do know that Colorado Springs averages 300 days of sunshine per year and around 15 inches of precipitation. That's called our climate.
1. Global warming isn't real because rich folks who yell about the environment don't practice what they preach.
I'm not sure who he's speaking about here. Likely not you or me. I've never purchased a carbon credit nor have I lived in a big mansion. I recycle. I have ridden my bike to work, like lots of other folks working to find small ways to make their footprint a little lighter. He must be trying to inculcate some Hollywood types.
I hope I've convinced a few folks who might be on the fence about global warming. Whether local citizens start to take some action on their own turf will determine whether
Colorado
Springs stands for
Carbon
Sensitive or
Corporate
Shill.
