Unscrupulous Community Associations Institute (CAI) lawyers-lobbyists and homeowners association presidents, boards of directors, and their Mafia-like cabals will do anything short of murder (and even that may come, one day) to control everything you, as a homeowner, do and say -- right where you live -- when nobody's looking.
If you challenge their tyrannical behavior, you will soon find a lien has been unjustly put on your home -- and nobody will have noticed but you. Shortly after that, you will be sitting on the sidewalk in front of what used to be your home without a penny in your pocket -- and nobody else in your homeowners association will dare (or care) to look.
Can't happen to you? Don't bet on it. It's already happening with frightening regularity all over the United States.
J. C. Watts captured national attention in 1996 with a speech before the Republican national convention, when he said,
"You see, character does count. For too long we have gotten by in a society that says the only thing right is to get by, and the only thing wrong is to get caught. Character [moral and ethical strength] is doing what's right when nobody is looking."
Readers here may remember the Colorado lady I wrote about back in 2007 (
c

) who was being tyrannized by the President of her homeowners association and his HOA cabal. All kinds of awful things happened to her at their hands, as well as at the hands of her county's Sheriff -- just because she had the kind of character and courage it took to try to "do what was right" in her homeowners association.
For example, because she asked questions which demanded factual answers about things in her HOA that she thought were very questionable (legally), she was assaulted by a member of her HOA's board of directors. Then, when she carried a concealed firearm, at the suggestion of a Sheriff's Deputy, to try to protect herself and her disabled husband from any such future attacks, the HOA President convinced the Sheriff of her county to refuse to renew her concealed carry permit. The reason the Sheriff gave for his refusal was something the lady had written that was published nationally. But the real reason appeared to be some kind of political connection between the Sheriff and the HOA President.
Last week, that same HOA President and its HOA Community Associations Institute (CAI) lawyer got together -- when nobody was looking -- and filed what appears to be a meritless lien against her home. Their intention being, it seems, to run her out of money (and the association) as fast as they can through nothing more than vexatious, harassing claims against her (which her attorney has to respond to, which costs her lots of money in legal fees) so that she cannot defend herself when her HOA's lawyer forecloses on her home -- a favorite money-making "game" of CAI lawyers and their cohort HOA presidents, these days, all over this nation.
Today, a bunch ofher HOA's apparently corrupt-to-their-very-cores "leaders" were out and about in her HOA -- very visible -- trying to, or so it seems, give the appearance of "doing good" in her HOA. But there is at least one homeowner in that HOA who knows better. She knows what those scoundrels do when nobody's looking.
There are many HOA homeowners among us who are very angry at such goings-on in many, if not most, HOAs today. I hope and pray that this lady and her attorney will succeed in ridding her HOA of such without-character, power-and-money-seeking human animals.
But beyond that, it appears that this particular lady may well have the kind of moral and ethical character, i.e., doing what's right when nobody's looking, to see to it that her HOA's lawyer and her HOA's president (and every member of his cabal) are punished to the full extent of the law for all of the wicked, tyrannical things that they've done and are still doing to her.
For the rest of us beleaguered HOA homeowners who are trying our best to fight the good fight against our HOA tormentors, we should always remember the words of J. C. Watts:
"Character is doing what's right when nobody's looking."
Keep your eyes on your HOA President and his or her cabal, homeowners -- especially when they think that nobody's looking.
