Sky Sox -- Public Notice
Contributed by: Sky Sox on 3/26/2007

PUBLIC NOTICE

The Sky Sox Season Home Opener is rapidly approaching (Thursday, April 5 at 6:05 pm vs. the top affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks) For those of you new to our area, in-game fireworks play a significant role in enhancing the game atmosphere and excitement. Since 1993, the Sky Sox have featured a limited number of firework shells at home games. A max. of 20 x 3" diameter shells per game are launched from a secured, automated rack mounted to the back of the scoreboard. These shells follow: >Last note of National Anthem >Sky Sox home runs (one shell for each run scored) >Last note of "Take me out to the Ballgame" >Sky Sox victories. Note: The louder "salute" shells are not launched past 9:00pm. Also, 14 spectacular post-game firework displays are scheduled for 2007, starting with our "Air Force Appreciation" show on Friday, May 11. All post-game firework dates are listed on www.skysox.com. Any shows postponed due to weather would be rescheduled, with notice of the make-up date also posted on www.skysox.com

The Sky Sox have designed and annually execute a detailed and proactive fireworks safety plan that meets or exceeds all standards established by CSFD. Professional fire fighters and equipment (including 2 brush trucks) from Fountain Fire Dept. are deployed for each display.

Since 1993, the Sky Sox have requested & have been annually granted a waiver of the City of Colorado Springs Noise Ordinance (as the shells used before 9:00pm momentarily break the 100 decibel limit) For 2007, the Sky Sox will using new methods to reach area residents with information, and to welcome your input. For 2007, there will be direct mail to homes within 2,500 ft. of the stadium as well as email. In addition, Community Meetings will be held, with the first one to be scheduled for at a date to be determined. In the mean time, you may share any concerns with Officer D. Stewart with CSPD. Code Enforcement at 444-7896.

The Sky Sox take our responsibility as being good neighbors very seriously and hope that this information will also help you with planning your spring & summer entertainment. Our mission is to provide the very best sports and family entertainment value in Colorado, and we hope that you make it out this season to experience professional baseball here at Security Service Field.

Warmest regards,
