Blog Entry 18 of 19 Blogging up a storm
A place for my crazy ramblings and thoughts about frivolous things. I live in Cheyenne Canyon.

Shut up!

An internet forum I frequent has been discussing annoying people at concerts -- the people who talk or sing so loud you can't enjoy the real musician on stage. Personally I haven't been to a ton of concerts, but I've been to ZERO concerts where people talking disrupted the music. At the last concert I attended, I had to scream directly into my friend's ear to converse with her. THAT'S when I needed text messaging on ye olde cellular phone.

People talking during movies -- now THAT really ticks me off. (I know, what a novel beef -- I sound like I'm starting into a Seinfeld routine) But sometimes noisy movie patrons can be hilarious. I'm thinking specifically of an afternoon showing of "Letters from Iwo Jima" I saw at Tinseltown several weeks back. The theater was practically empty when the movie started, and then an older couple shuffled in. And they started talking. I think they thought they were whispering, but this was the loudest whispering known to man.

Toward the end, as the movie got more tense and the mood more somber, they started whispering-slash-talking again. And I clearly heard the man say, "NO, I CAN'T HOLD IT." I about busted up laughing.

A few minutes later, it sounded like somebody was dropping a manhole cover on the floor, sort of a heavy glass or metal sound. Oh my gosh, I had my hand over my mouth to stop myself from guffawing in the midst of a very serious scene, probably a soldier dying. When I really laugh, it's LOUD, so that was pretty painful for me.

Ah, this random blog writing sure is relaxing. But not necessarily interesting for the readers. Oh well.

Speaking of movies, here's the best one ever: "The Science of Sleep." It's quirky, foreign, weird -- everything I love. "Amelie" is still my No. 1, but now Science of Sleep is No. 2. Gael Garcia Bernal plus three languages (french, english, spanish) equals heaven.
