Blogging up a storm

I've been a bad blogger. I haven't updated this baby in - oh, three weeks? Coincidentally (or perhaps not) that's how long I had a furry visitor in my house.
His name is Cheyenne, and he's a 50-pound brown and black dog, a mutt I guess. I dogsat him for a co-worker while the co-worker spent three weeks in Hawaii - yes, I'm justifiably jealous, but that's for another time. Anyway, Cheyenne joined my cat and dog for three weeks of doggie fun. My Boston Terrier, Elliott, loved having him there, although she's quite a bit smaller.
They spent the first few days sniffing each other constantly and getting acquainted. Cheyenne got to know the house and the toys scattered everywhere. She'd pick up a rawhide, chew on it, drop it, and then E would pick it up. She's a thieving brat, basically. I'd throw the disemboweled stuffed animal for C, and then I'd throw it for E.
Then they joined forces and became best buds. Cheyenne would grab a toy and E would grab the other end, and they'd play tug of war. True, E weighs only 14 lbs, but she's a fighter. Then they'd chase each other around the couch. Then they'd wrestle in front of the fireplace with this strange "mouths open teeth showing but not biting" maneuver. Hard to describe but hilarious.
Now Cheyenne's back home with his owner and it's a little quieter in the house. There's definitely more room on the bed - C doesn't mind plopping down in the middle and taking up more than his half. And there's no more "thump thump thump" of his tail against the plastic crate when I open the front door after coming home from work.
Maybe I need another dog.

Yup, you definitely need another dog! I sure miss Dakota, the Keeshond I bought for my son in 2004. He's got his own place and took Dakota with him. I only get my "fix" when my son brings Dakota over when he does his laundry, which isn't often enough. I dropped my husband a hint that I want a female Keeshond puppy for Christmas. I don't think he's gotten the hint yet, but Christmas is still 3 1/2 months away. Here's hoping!
