GOOD DAY - SUNSHINE!
Not sure about anyone else, but these days I hesitate to watch the news or even pick up the paper! With our changing environment, economic woes, political promises, and homes going up in flames - it feels as though good news is hard to find. Or maybe we just don't hear the good stuff.
Well - we're here to bring you some good stuff! Despite the shaky economy, our community stands united and is willing to come together to support our students, our future and the gift of music. Air Academy High School Kadet Krew (501c(3) held their annual March-A-Thon on September 11 th and the community rallied, over and above 2007 donations, to the "tune" of almost $13,000, and the checks are still coming.
The reigning 4A State Champions, dressed in uniform - instruments in hand - went door to door in District 20 neighborhoods. Folks were incredibly welcoming, enjoying bits of music on their doorsteps, sometimes even bringing out their own instruments to play a piece together! Donations weren't the only gift - the musicians got into the roots of their neighborhoods - met incredible people - had great conversations - something we don't do often enough. What a gift!
Yes, excellence is expensive. With the cost per student at over $350, over and above District funding, your generous donations help make these incredible music programs possible - and keep the dreams of aspiring musicians alive!
On behalf of the Kadet Krew -
many thanks to our supporters and the community - for caring and supporting these incredible students!
Anyone is welcome to attend the performances - you can check out the schedule(s) at
