Walter, Gate Us to 750 Feet
Contributed by: Jeff Lane on 2/21/2008

The Red Button has been pushed many times and one of the Cheyenne Mountain Team America Rocketry Challenge teams (TARC) is ready to do an official certification flight. It's a unique opportunity for the community to join Colorado Springs Rocket Society on Saturday, February 23 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. to watch a team apply months of engineering and testing. They will attempt a precision flight of 750 feet for 45 seconds with two raw eggs and altimeter. If they achieve their goal, they'll qualify for finals in the D.C. area in May and a chance at a portion of $60,000 in prize money. While there are three teams from CMCA/CMHS, one from Sierra, and one from Simla, team Stargate has thrust ahead with eleven test flights. Team SG-1 will also be flying on Saturday, but will probably not attempt an official certification flight. The launch is at Challenger Middle School, 10215 Lexington Drive.
