Our White Christmas

Compared to 2006, autumn 2007 was warm and dry. Many of us were wondering the dry spell would last into the coming winter.

As December opened, Colorado finally received needed moisture. Snowpack in the mountains reached, and in many cases exceeded, historical normal levels.

In the days leading up to Christmas 2007, those of us in the Pikes Peak region enjoyed views of our snow covered mountain. On Christmas Day, snowfall left the mountains with a fresh layer of fluffy powder. The images accompanying this story were taken in the days leading up to Christmas, Christmas Day and the day after.

As 2007 closes, we brace for one last winter storm for the year. Let's hope that 2008 opens as beautifully as 2007 closes.
