Matthew Banasik, a Colorado Springs local Realtor with McGinnis GMAC, spent over fourteen hours in a bobcat digging a ditch and moving the dirt to close the sale of the client's home. Two days prior to closing, the buyer decided that she was not going to purchase the home because of the water runoff from the local homeowner's association's lot next door. A structural engineer determined the runoff did not have any detrimental effect on the home. However, she was not 100% comfortable with this answer.
Matthew pledged to solve the problem and make the buyer satisfied. "I have a strong sense to make everyone happy in a transaction," Matthew said. "We needed a ditch to divert the water runoff from her new property directly to the street." Matthew is also the President of the local homeowner's association that is responsible for that property. Therefore, he took it upon himself to find someone to dig the ditch to help with the drainage.
Matthew began looking for operators to do the work, but was unable to find one on such short notice. "I was not going to let the closing date pass by and have both the buyer and seller unhappy," Matthew said. Matthew decided to rent a bobcat and he began the task of digging the ditch. Two days later, on the day of closing, Matthew completed the 100-foot ditch. The buyer was pleased with the work and closed that afternoon. "Matthew always gives this type of commitment," says longtime friend, Jo-Ann Colpoys. "Customer service is a priority for him."
"Lezlie, Mills, and I are very appreciative of the fine job you put forth in selling our home. The buyer identified a problem and you dropped everything you were doing to resolve the issue and get us to the closing table," the seller said. "Thanks again for your commitment to getting our home sold as well as handling the details that could have consumed us. You really delivered on your promise!"
