If you love cars like I do, well , this is "Elegance on Wheels". Many of these autosmobiles are valued in the $2 million to $4 million range and are very rare and unique. Colorado has never seen a collection of cars of this quality and prominence...one would have to travel to Pebble Beach or Amelia Island to see anything like what will be on display.
Here is a list of some of the cars and cycles that you will be seeing at this show.
The original Indian motorcycle from the Anthony Hopkins movie,The World's Fastest Indian", which broke land speed records.... "John Lennon's Rolls Royce Limo"..... the most sussessful Briggs Cunningham race car ever, winner of the Sebring and Le Mans...... Cars from Clive Cussler, a Colorado Author of 27 books,..... John Hendricks' cars from the Gateway Museum..... a Pierce Arrow once owned by Rudyard Kipling.....a race car that was campaigned by Carrol Shelby and Sir Sterling Moss.....A flying car, plus the show will be covering Antiques through Muscle Cars. Basically there will be something for everyone at this show and there will be some very fine Automotive Art and Sculpture... and Art Grotto with fantastic food wine and lots of fun for the entire family. This will be a Lawn Party that you and I will talk about forever.
These collectors spend at least a couple of million to buy a car that is viewed as good enough to contend, then restoration can be anywhere from $300,000 to $1 million or more. A ground -up restoration of a Concours car costs more than most people's houses....restoration takes up to 4,000 to 5,000 labor hours. The car must be totally disassembled ....these cars are made up of 40,000 to 50,000 parts, each of which is handled several times. When the restoration is finished, however, the owner is left with more than a car. "They're artwork", "many of these cars are worth millions" and these are the cars that will be on display Labor Day Weekend.
Car owners will compete for Prestige and Trophies.. Local charities will benefit.....there is no prize purse.
The lovely Ladies of Evergreen Cemetery, [ Colorado Springs oldest cemetery ]will be on the golf course grounds to welcome you. They will be dressed in the early 1900s with fancy hats, and lovely parasols as they stroll the beautiful grounds of the Broadmoor. Please stop and say hello, have your picture taken with them and don't forget to tell them that you enjoyed this article.
Here are a few pictures of cycles and cars that will be at this show

What an event! The Rocky Mountain Concours put on a fantastic show. Thank you to the Broadmoor for hosting this event on their grounds. It was the perfect setting. Too bad there wasn't more press in the paper. Three days a balloons, which happen every year, but this was once in a life time opportunity and very little press from the Gazette or the Independent for that matter
