The Evergreen Cemetery Ladies Benevolent Society want to thank everyone who helped to make this event a very successful one. Thanks again to all the volunteers from Evergreen Cemetery and the Evergreen ladies for the cold beverages and refreshments .
We had quite an array of guests including those beautiful "American Heritage Girls" from Corpus Christi Catholic Church who put a carnation on each of the veterans graves, the 3 Boy Scouts and Eagle scouts for having those extra flags to put on the graves that didn't have one on them.
The Memorial Event included the Buffalo Soldiers, Bagpipers and a Balloon Release memorial for all our fallen soldiers.
We had Reenactors from different Wars including Civil War, World War I, World War II, Korean War,and the Vietnam War. Thanks to all the reenacters ,Buffalo Soldiers and Bagpipers ,and thanks for another special guest , 91 year old Air Force Pilot ,Colonel Bob Behling who flew in World War II, and the Korean War.[no relation to the other Behlings that were there.] He told some very interesting stories about his life during the War to the men ,women and children that came up to shake his hand as they thanked him also for his service.
The pictures that you are going to see are pictures of Memorial Day 2007, at Evergreen Cemetery, and the people who made this event .
The ladies that you will see in the photos are volunteers from Evergreen Cemetery who portrays the women buried at the Cemetery.
Evergreen Cemetery Benevolent Society works to restore and preserve the Historic Tombstones and grave sites at Evergreen Cemetery. This event had a great turn out and these ladies are a small representation of the total members. They are a volunteer group dedicated to preserving our past and the memories of those who came before us. They need our support.
