A native of Denver, Evan Shinners began playing the piano at age nine and gave his orchestral debut with the Utah Symphony at age 12. An accomplished soloist, he was the only American to win a prize at the Eastman International Young Artists Competition (2003), as well as earning prizes at the Fort Collins Concerto Competition and MTNA competitions. In 2004 Shinners was a participant in the prestigious New York Piano Competition. He has also performed at Alice Tully Hall and the Lincoln Center Library for the Performing Arts, as well as in several concerts around Utah and Colorado. Mr. Shinners is also a conductor and has conducted in New York State, Utah and Colorado, and last November both played with and conducted the student orchestra at Juilliard. He has recently graduated from the Juilliard School of Music where he studied with Jerome Lowenthal.
A native of Brooklyn, New York, Eva Gerard began studies on the violin at age four and the viola at age 14. She has performed in such venues as The Lincoln Center Library for the Performing arts, Alice Tully Hall, Columbia's St. Paul's Chapel, and the Donnell Library, in addition to sitting principal viola in the Juilliard Orchestra's performance of Schnittke's 9th Symphony in Avery Fisher Hall. An avid chamber and orchestral musician, Eva participated in the New York String Orchestra Seminar which performed in Carnegie hall under the baton of Jamie Laredo. She has also attended the Aspen Music Festival, EncoreSchool for Strings, and Juilliard's Chamberfest. She is a recent graduate of the JuilliardSchool where she studied with Masao Kawasaki.
