What:	Directed at the new computer user, this class provides a basic understanding of Microsoft's Windows XP operating system to include system hardware and software. Topics include the desktop, parts of the window, moving and sizing windows, My Documents and My Computer, files, folders, drives, data storage, file maintenance, and an overview of computer parts and peripherals, such as printers. This class is strong on computer terminology associated with the use of Microsoft products and helps the student to learn the difference between the operating system and applications. This class also provides a basic understanding of the Internet. Topics include modems (56k, DSL, and cable), Web browsers (Internet Explorer and Netscape), Internet service providers, surfing strategies, secure transactions, cookies, anti-virus software and firewalls. $74 (includes materials)/6 sessions; Limit: 12 (max.), 8 (min.) - open to the public Pre-registration required.
