As your Mayor, help me change Colorado Springs
My blog is dedicated as a venue of two way communications between myself and the citizens of Colorado Springs. I want to be your next Mayor and help you mold Colorado Springs into what you and I both want. I may just be a grassroots guy... but what I can offer is to be the open conduit for the people, the citizens of Colorado Springs. The people need to be heard and their words must not fall on deaf ears. Each and every citizen of this community has the right to express an opinion and the right to ask their community leaders to consider that opinion. Two way communication is a must. I will not let our citizen's words drop to the floor to be swept away. I will work to ensure each and every Council person and all those under the direction of the City Manager hear the words of our citizens. This I can promise... this and the many ideas I have to improve our community is what I offer this community. All I ask is for your vote on election day.

What would you like to see change in C Springs?

Hello. My name is Mike Coletta, and I will be running for mayor of Colorado Springs in the April 3, 2007 election. Prior to any televised debates, I would like to get input from the citizens of Colorado Springs so I can prepare to talk about the issues with Lionel Rivera, the current mayor.
So, I hope some of you will put your ideas to words here in this forum. I will be checking it often and will be noting what the people of Colorado Springs think could help make our city better.
Hey, thanks for your time and thanks for your input.

And have a great day!

Hi Donna Ralph,...
This is a great idea. I would fully support a City funded effort such as you suggest. I am a big animal lover and spend a good amount of my own money each month to feed many animals in the parks. I often write about it and share pictures in my blog. Those of you wildlife rehabilitators who care for the sick, injured, and orphaned native birds and mammals found in community are taking kindness one-step-further. You bet I would support something like that and if I'm elected I would like to get with you to talk about this. Thanks!

Hi Jeff Lane,...
Taxes seem to be on everyone's list. They will a major item that will be looked at during the entire year. I'm sure there are avenues for change, I just need to dig into the papers and plans and budget and see what can be done. I think it was in the movie, The American President, where he was told they couldn't do something because of the way the money was. He sat down and researched and came up with a way to do it with the money they already had. Just by moving it around where it made sense. I've always remembered that. It would be a good place to start. Thanks!

I would like to see City funding of licensed wildlife rehabilitators to care for the sick, injured, and orphaned native birds and mammals found by the citizens in our community that we currently must fund ourselves, with what few donations we receive. There's a big facility (Humane Society) and funding, paid staff to care for pets people keep, breed, then decide they no longer want to keep. Presently most wildlife rehabbers in our State work out of our homes, while working regular jobs, spending our personal money to feed and provide for these critters. How about some help for those of us trying to give back what development, pets, pesticides, power lines, and other problems are taking away from our environment and our quality of life? The number one problem in CS is high taxes, and the most offensive is the El Paso County personal property tax on business equipment. It's a grossly unconstitutional burden on small business and should be eliminated immediately. Also, when a car is leased, then sold to a buyer (at lease end) rather than turning it in to the dealer. the lesee has to pay sales taxes twice, when it's acquired from the dealer and when it's sold to the new owner. What a scam!
