Amy Scheller, Owner of Cartridge World Briargate, has been named this year's Small Business Person of the Year. Cartridge World Briargate, a locally owned business and part of a 2,000 store global franchise, recycles, remanufactures and refills ink and toner cartridges for printers, copiers and fax machines. The concept preserves natural resources and keeps tons of industrial plastics out of landfills each year.
Factors considered as part of her having received the honor include a successful track record of sales, growth, employment, staying power and the fact that Ms. Scheller has dedicated her professional life in service to her fellow business owner and to protecting the environment. She serves as Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce Chamber Ambassador, Military Transitional Assistance Program Panelist, Chair of Cartridge World North America's Franchise Advisory Council representing some 700 U.S. Cartridge World Franchise Owners, President of her BNI chapter and Volunteer Coordinator for this year's Concours 'dElegance, a nationally recognized benefit event for the elderly.
Ms. Scheller opened her operation on 1737 Briargate Blvd. in Colorado Springs in April 2005. In sales, she ranks among the top 100 performing stores in the nation and is consistently the top producing store in Colorado. She has four full time employees with near-term plans for expansion and new hiring.
The business serves individuals, government, military and corporate consumers saving them and average of 40% over retail pricing while helping them to comply with "green" procurement requirements and mandates and preserve natural resources.
