This Isn’t Your Typical Groundbreaking Ceremony –
La Plata Investments Will Blast 300 Rockets into the Air to Celebrate the Launch of the Cordera Grand Lawn and Community Center
On June 26, 2007 La Plata Investments, LLC will celebrate the launching of the
Cordera Grand Lawn and Community Center in an extraordinary way by sending nearly 300 model rockets into the sky with the push of a single button. The invitation is downloadable (
page one and
page two).
La Plata will work in conjunction with the
Colorado Springs Rocket Society, the
Briargate YMCA and Cordera homeowners to build and launch the rockets. The idea is to celebrate the launch of the cornerstone amenities in Cordera in a non-traditional way. “We wanted the launch ceremony to be more than a ribbon cutting and shoveling dirt,” said David Talbot, Marketing Director for La Plata. “Seeing all those rockets blast off at one time will be truly memorable for the whole community.”
The Grand Launch is scheduled for 9:00 am Tuesday, June 26th at the Grand Lawn located at the corner of Briargate Parkway and Grand Lawn Circle. Families are welcome. The model rockets will be given away after they are flown. For more information, call the Cordera Experience, the new home resource and information center, at 719-266-8581.
Cordera is a new master-planned community with homes starting from the $300’s. Located off I-25 and Briargate Parkway past Pine Creek, just east of Powers Boulevard. For more information, visit

The Grand Lawn will be a 5+ acre park in Cordera that is scheduled to open this summer. The 8,200 square foot Community Center will include a heated outdoor pool, fitness room, meeting rooms and a coffee bar, and its Grand Opening is scheduled for Memorial Day 2008.
La Plata Investments, LLC is the current developer for the Briargate Master Plan and includes the Briargate, Pine Creek and Cordera communities, and the commercial properties of
