Having recently battled breast cancer, Larysa Martyniuk, a nationally acclaimed artist, has been building back her strength at the Gleneagle Curves. Larysa is a woman with indefatigable energy and enthusiasm. She recently painted a refreshing mountain mural on the Curves' wall that brings the outdoors inside. Framed by aspen trees, a hiking path curves around a quiet high altitude lake toward towering peaks.
"My journey battling cancer has been eased by the tremendous support and encouragement I have received from my friends, especially the ladies at Curves," smiles Larysa.
Larysa enjoys working with local builders and homeowners. Her specialty is creating artistic environments for children's rooms. Her artistic efforts have garnered awards in the Parade of Homes, including the coveted Mame Award.
Martyniuk's work has been exhibited in various national shows including the Connecticut Painters and Sculptor Exhibit at Stanford Museum, CT; the Painting and Sculptor's Award Show, Woodstock Gallery, NY-juror Lowry Sims curator of American Paintings, Metropolitan Museum; Large Works, Woodstock-juror Peterson Sims, curator at the Whitney Museum of Modern Art, New York City; Women Artist's Lincoln Center; and the Invitational Exhibit, Artists of the West, Pikes Peak Center, CO. Locally, she has exhibited at the Hayden-Hays Gallery; the Cogswell Gallery and the Business of Art and Commonwheel Galleries.
I manage the Curves fitness center in Gleneagle. One of our members, Larysa Martyniuk, has painted an incredible mural on our wall at Curves that I would love to share with everyone! I am enclosing a brief story of Larysa and her talent, but I wanted you to know a little more.
She was diagnosed with breast cancer two years ago. She was and is a single mom to a teenage son. The ladies at Gleneagle gathered their recipes and sold them as a Gleneagle Cookbook, with the total proceeds going to Larysa to help her pay for her cancer treatments. They also sold paperback and hardback books at the Gleneagle Curves, giving all the money collected toLarysa.
After her treatments were complete, Larysa began to paint this mural to thank the ladies for their support. Pictures don't really do it justice, but you can see what an incredible gift she has given us.
