Pinnacle Weightlifting Wins 2 nd Place at the National School Age Championship

Pinnacle Weightlifting team members, Christina Brown, 12, Sam Haman, 12, Daisy Haman, 10 and Ruby Haman, 8, competed for the first time at the National School Age Weightlifting Championship held recently at DisneyWorld, FLA on June 13-16, 2008. This weightlifting championship is in Olympic style weightlifting in which the athletes compete in the snatch and the clean and jerk for a combined total in their age and weight class for first, second and third place.

Brown led the team with a 1 st place win in her age and weight class. With a best in the snatch of 32kg and a clean and jerk of 43kg for a combined total of 75kg, Brown also won the Best Overall Female Lifter Award. Daisy Haman snatched 37kg and clean and jerked 32kg for a combined total of 59kg. She and Cowdell tied for first place but Daisy took a 2 nd place finish based on weight in her weight class. In a tie, the lighter weight lifter of the two takes first. Ruby Haman did a great job taking 6 th place in her weight class with a 20kg snatch and a 25kg clean and jerk for a combined total of 45kg.

In the Boys' Division, Sam Haman captured a 2 nd place finish in his weight class with a 32kg snatch and a 45kg clean and jerk for a combined total of 77kg. He also did a personal best of 45kg in the clean and jerk.
