Monument Roller Mamas now Recruiting!

Roller derby is back! A new roller derby league is starting in Monument. The Monument Roller Mamas are now recruiting all ladies 18 and older. Roller derby is a fun, athletic and entertaining all-ladies contact sport. Men are needed to ref and coach.

A bout (game) in roller derby is a combination of speed skating and blocking. On the track at any time will be five members from each team. The jammer is the person who scores the points. The blockers help the jammer get through the pack and the pivots set the pace of the teams. The league follows WFTDA rules that can be found at wftda.com.

No experience or equipment is necessary to check us out. Join us at our recruiting party from 4 to 6 p.m. April 19 at O'Malley's Steak Pub (104 S. Highway 105 in Palmer Lake) and get all of your questions answered. Or, c ome to any practice at 8:30 p.m. any Tuesday at the Colorado Sports Center (take the Baptist Road exit off Interstate 25 and head west, turn right on Old Denver Highway).
