I recently got my driver's permit, back in August. Believe me, for a young teen, this is an exciting "rite of passage". The only thing that was not so exciting about the experience was waking up around 5 in the morning (one of a young teen's least favorite things. And this happened during summer vacation, when I usually woke up around... well, lets just say that I didn't really wake up early during the summer.) Oh, and also, the whole driving thing has not been so great. Just kidding, but at first, I really didn't like driving AT ALL! Even though my instructor (my dad) is very patient, I didn't appreciate the fact that almost as soon as we got home from the DMV, my dad wanted to take me out driving. He's usually way more enthusiastic about the whole thing than I am.
Unlike most kids who start out driving around town, I started driving out in Black Forest, where I live. So, while other kids are anxious about country driving, I'm anxious about city driving, which I really need to get over, since most of Colorado Springs is urban.
But, as I look back on the past few months, I realize that I've come to somewhat enjoy driving. Wow. I never thought that I would say that! But I did. I like the fact that I can say proudly, "I can drive", even though technically I can't drive on my own. But that's another milestone...
